News from Iraq
June 8 (Bloomberg) -- Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the Jordanian terrorist who led al-Qaeda in Iraq, was killed in a U.S. air raid north of Baghdad, removing the figurehead of the middle-eastern nation's bloody three-year insurgency.
``Today al-Zarqawi has been killed,'' Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki said in a televised press conference from Baghdad. ``This is a message to all those who take violence as a path to reconsider and to go back to their senses before it is too late.'' Seven other people were killed in the raid, he said.
